Review:

Baseball Mogul 2007 is the fifth iteration of the Sports Mogul series, this time published by Enlight Software for the PC. The release date for the game is yet to be announced, but if you are a baseball fanatic and your favorite bedtime reading material is The Baseball Encyclopedia (it's a stat book that is the thickness of loaf of bread and covers the games and player's stats from the first days of pro baseball), then this is the game for you.

Forget scoring this on a graphics or audio level, just absorb this ambitious title and bring your true fantasy teams to life. Baseball Mogul 2007, though, is a true baseball fans delight. It's all there, the stats, the excitement and the legends.

Review:

MVP 2004 combines the approachability of an arcade baseball game with the statistical depth of a text baseball management simulator to provide something for nearly everyone. The first thing you notice about the game is the gloss and flash on everything. Menus look fantastic, there is a jumping soundtrack playing in the background which even keeps you posted on the track and artist currently playing. Ballparks include all of the unique features, like the locomotive at Minutemaid Park and the retired numbers in the upper deck of Busch Stadium still beckon the monster home run hitter.

Gameplay in a baseball game is usually 70% pitcher vs batter, 10% fielding, 10% baserunning, and 10% everything else, Therefore, the pitching and batting mechanisms make or break the game. Fortunately for EA and gamers everywhere, they have reworked both approaches and have created a much more natural way for players to get into the game.

Review:

The 2005 version of the game sports two new modes (in addition to the exhibition, dynasty, home run showdown, manager mode and scenario editor) - owner mode and mini games. The latter is broken down into batting, pitching and untimed pitching, and there are four difficulty settings, depending on where you want pinpoint accuracy or a somewhat-forgiving experience. The batting mini game has you placing hits. The pitching game is akin to knocking out colored blocks with certain pitches. They are time, of course, and you have to be fast and accurate.

The other new mode, as mentioned, is the owner mode. From the owner's box, you can work on the team finances, set pricing, buy assets, set up promotional days, hire staff, design a ballpark and even do a virtual tour of your stadium. The team chemistry, and fan happiness all come into play, and even players will want to renegotiate their contracts or gripe about playing time (too much or lack thereof).
